In readness for the Olympic games the German public provider ARD/ZDF have changed some of their channels as follows:
Astra 19°E, Freq:11954H, SR:27500, FEC:3/4:
ZDFtheaterkanal becomes Athen 3
ZDFdokukanal becomes Athen 2
Please note that when downloading the above frequency the receiver also shows two dedicated channels within its own right (Athen 2 and Athen 3) with a caption in German saying "from Saturday 14 August at 9:00 (CET) the channels will start live telecasting".
Astra 19°E, Freq:12110H, SR:27500, FEC:3/4:
EinsMuXx becomes Athen 1
EinsFestival becomes Athen 4
Please note on the above frequency the channels still continue will regular programming untill 13 August but the receiver as of today downloads the channels under the names Athen1 & 4 respectivly.
All channels will transmit 24 hours a day throught out the games.
These channels are to complement the two main German channel ARD and ZDF that will give general coveridge of all sports.
Athen 1 to 4 will show the different sporting events in more detail and will be sub-divided as follows:
Athen 1:Swimming, Horse Riding, Sailing, Gymnastics and Diving events
Athen 2:Bicycle, Light-Athletics, Beach Volleyball, Tennis, Badminton, (from 26.August:) Basketball, Taekwondo and Wrestling (1) events
Athen 3:Rowing, Canoe, Boxing, Hand Ball, Fencing and Wrestling (2) events
Athen 4:Hockey, Football, Volleyball, Basketball and Judo events
A big plus if you wish to see a certain sport in detail.
If you do not do a new receiver scan the channels will appear under the regular names eg:"EinsMuXx" will be "Athen 1" etc.
Hope this will be of some interest to the members even if there is no English commentry.
